AGE are an electronic indie partnership from the outskirts of Hackney, East London. Made up of Jen Cosgrave & Gavin Dwight, the pair have mixed up bedroom and studio sessions with renowned producers, to form their own brand of darker, alt pop – voices intertwined, and narratives of a city that is intimate and shifting. 

Their first single ‘Peaks’ was a haunting and blissfully atmospheric debut merging of tropical beats and shimmering synths that caught the eye of UK taste makers and producers. The Irish/ Australian duo followed up with the infectious single ‘Dislocate’ late 2017, showcasing their undeniable ability for working darker themes into arresting hooks and production.

Press for the first singles had the attention of Nialler 9, Clash, Drunken Werewolf and Wonderland. Working on the initial singles with Russ Fawcus (Wild Beasts, Noah and the Whale) & Mandy Parnell (Jamie XX, The Knife), the first two singles were both a first offering and a statement of intent. 

On their debut EP, ‘Crush’, AGE worked with Paddy Baird, (Shibashi, a Two Door Cinema Club side project). Baird was tracking the Swimming Tapes debut record at the time, so worked with AGE after hours in a Hackney studio.

‘Crush’ traces the breakdown of a relationship and a search for what might be salvaged, holding tension between immediate desire and letting someone go entirely. The music itself lives in an alt pop space, while the stories embedded come across as overheard conversations, rumours and the dull ache of desire. 

The striking video for the EP single ‘Ours’, was shot in one night in a Kings Cross apartment block, though went on to take nearly a year to edit and build. Working with a motion graphics artist to create a fabricated world, the video is a performance that unravels as unseen players begin to take over instruments and bodies. All of the videos to date have been shot by directors that are close friends of the band with artwork and images shot by the same extended community of friends in East London. 

AGE played a number of live shows last year, supporting the Temper Trap at the AIM awards and a group of intimate venues across London including The Old Blue Last, Notting Hill Arts Club and The Lexington. Plans to tour in Europe in 2019 are in the works.
