UK live dates for May

“Marvellous alt.pop…Tennis pay funky homage to 80’s Madonna and 90’s Beck” – NME, 8/10

“Slow burning, sweet as candy” – Sunday Times Culture

“A lo-fi delight built around Alaina Moore’s weightless soprano and a gloriously fuzzy bassline” – Saturday Times Review

The husband and wife duo of Alaina and Patrick, otherwise known as Tennis, have recently released their perfectly formed gem of an EP, “Small Sound” on their new home of Communion and, proving once more that the best things come in small packages, it showcases maybe their best material yet. Gorgeously warm and bursting with infectious melodies, tracks like “100 Lovers” and “ Mean Streets” show off Tennis’ strengths to brilliant effect, and prove tantalising glimpses of their forthcoming third album, produced by The Black Keys’ Patrick Carney in Nashville.

Alaina has described the Scott Laidlaw directed video for ‘Cured Of Youth’ in her own words:

“Fiction is better than reality, but science fiction is better than fiction. At least it is if you’re Scott Bakula in Quantum Leap, a late 80’s TV series I hadn’t heard of until a month ago. When I complained to a friend that I had finished every episode of Star Trek Voyager, Battlestar Galactica, X-Files, Firefly, the feature-film conclusion to Firefly, AND Caprica, and that I was now dealing with a sense of emptiness and overall malaise, my thoughtful friend recommended Quantum Leap. Later that week I cozied up to begin my first viewing but didn’t make it past the opening credits. Quantum Leap’s title sequence is of sufficient length and detail to constitute a summer blockbuster. In only three minutes it conveys every plot point of the entire series along with some pretty eye-popping special effects. I wouldn’t say I was hooked. I also wouldn’t call it an overnight sensation. Let’s just say this music video, directed by the bold and beautiful Scott Laidlaw, is the senseless continuation of that story.”

Taken from the EP, the band are now releasing the stunning “Cured of Youth” as their next single, to coincide with a string of live UK dates in early May. Taking in dates across the country, as well as an appearance at the Great Escape in Brighton, these are sure to be unmissable performances, as the band preview new material and play old classics alike.
