COWGIRL SHARE LATEST SINGLE ‘WASN’T LISTENING’
TAKEN FROM THE LONG DIVISION FESTIVAL COMPILATION “NEW ADDITIONS: VOL 2”
York-based noisemakers Cowgirl have shared their latest offering ‘Wasn’t Listening’, an immediate slice of lo-fi, grungey alt-rock. The track is taken from the ‘New Additions: Vol 2’ record; a compilation from Long Division Festival featuring brand new songs and recordings from artists who had been scheduled to play at this year’s festival.
This raw and immediate composition will captive you from that first note, the wall of sound is built in an instant and the fury of this act is compelling. “Wasn’t Listening” is a fuzzy and ferocious masterpiece. Angular, abrasive and appealing- the lyrics fight with the power of the riffs for the perfect fusion.
Made up of core members Danny Trew Barton and Sam Coates, the band’s current line-up also includes Tom Robinson (ZoZo / Cruel World) and Jack Holdstock (The Federals) and have several releases to date on the Desert Mine Music UK label (Sam Forrest, Nine Black Alps). The band members hail from York, Leeds & Manchester, and following recent tours have quickly built a reputation across the UK and Europe for their explosive live performances.
Produced by Jamie Lockhart and Rob Slater in Leeds at Greenmount Studios (The Cribs, Pulled Apart By Horses) and clocking in at a succinct 2 minutes and 15 seconds, ‘Wasn’t Listening’ is a blisteringly to-the-point statement of intent by the band; a perfect piece of garage-rock recalling Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Stooges and Teenage Fanclub.Danny Trew Barton, Cowgirl: “We’re really happy to be included in the comp and although we’re disappointed to not be playing Long Division this year, we have nothing but respect for the way the Long Division team have dealt with the situation. We can’t wait to play again next year. Wakefield is a great city and a great place to go drinking. Looking forward to necking a Silver King soon!”
‘New Additions: Vol 2’ is available to buy now from Bandcamp, all profits will be split between contributing artists.
