Out now digitally, It’s Beautiful is a new EP featuring fully reimagined takes of three songs from Water From Your Eyes’ It’s a Beautiful Place. Here guitarist and producer Nate Amos tweaks, twists, and warps the arrangements for ‘Born 2’, ‘Nights in Armor’, and ‘Playing Classics’, dramatically shifting the scenery around and emotional resonance of singer Rachel Brown’s vocal leads.
“The new versions of ‘Born 2’ and ‘Nights in Armor’ are actually just closer to how the songs existed in their original form”, says Amos. “People were asking me about the original 10+ minute version of playing classics and I can’t find it anymore, so I made a new one. Thought it would be funny if it was faster, too. I added car sound effects because cars are fast.”
Water From Your Eyes are currently at the tail end of a global headline run, having sold out dates across the UK, Europe and North America. Of their sold out show at London’s Village Underground, Loud & Quiet said, “they’ve never sounded fuller or better, and the party does rock, especially on the closing acid-house throwback ‘Playing Classics’, which is greater than almost anything James Murphy DJ’d between 2002 and 2008”, while Far Out noted, “Water From Your Eyes’ patchwork terrain weaved and bobbed with effortless glide, with Village Underground one moment hammered by the idiosyncratic alloy of skulking monologue and punk assault on ‘Life Signs’, blasted with the impishly euphoric digital rush of ‘Nights in Armor’, then rounded off with their pre-encore finale of ‘Playing Classics’ clubland donk”.
