Slaney Bay Release New Single “Countdown” – Out Now

South West London indie risers Slaney Bay return with punchy new single ‘Countdown’, out now.

Marking their first reveal from their ‘The Long Way Home’ EP arriving early 2025, the band have had to navigate through a tough first half of the year following frontwoman Cait Whitley’s ankle/leg break, however they are now primed and ready for the autumn months, with further new material on the horizon and live dates galore.

In newest effort ‘Countdown’, the group showcase their sublime indie sensibilities and euphoric lyricism to perfection, following up their ‘Why Does Love Mean Loss?’ EP in style and heralding the next thrilling phase in their development by adding drummer Jonny Burraway-Andrews to the mix and announcing their arrival as a potent four-piece.

The single marks a new version of Slaney Bay, the outfit has increased in size and their vision expands further. The new track captures this courageous melody, elevated by the instrumentation’s depth and Whitley’s standout vocal harmonies. This is Slaney Bay’s anthemic arrangement, the rhythmic composition allures the audience in and captures this immense range of hooks that showcase the skill of each musician united together on this dream-pop masterpiece.

Having already generated a slew of acclaim throughout the press landscape  (Billboard, The Independent, Dork, The Line Of Best Fit,  Rough Trade, Under The Radar), in addition to nods of approval across the BBC Radio 1 (Jack Saunders) and BBC 6 Music (Steve Lamacq) airwaves, the quartet will be heading to Europe with slots at the likes of Left Of The Dial and Supersonic in the next few months, following on from supports with Coach Party, Sinead O’Brien, Bleach Lab & Low Hummer.

Detailing their brand new offering, enigmatic bandleader Whitley explained: “‘Countdown’ is our ode to youthful romantic tension. When you show up to a house party just in case that one person arrives. And your eyes instinctively find them in the crowd, like love-drunk tunnel-vision. In ‘Countdown’, the question of “Will we happen?” becomes “Let’s make us happen right now”.

Slaney Bay’s ‘Countdown’ is out now and available on all digital platforms.

Live Dates
18th-19th October – Left of the Dial, Rotterdam
8th November – The Garage, London (w/ The Clockworks)
