YARD-ACT SUPPORT TOUR KICKS LATER THIS WEEK

LONDON HEADLINE SHOW SOLD OUT

Gustaf, the Brooklyn no wave / post-punk band have a new album on the way 5th April and today they are back with another single for “Close,” a four-minute driving, angular assault. The song follows “Here Hair / Hard Hair” and the first single “Starting and Staring.” The band, who recently announced and immediately sold out a London headline show will kick off a UK tour with Yard Act today in Norwich. The full dates below.

The latest track from the album exudes this destructive flair, it’s complex and impactful. This raw release captures an intense rolling rhythm that scales to this triumphant gritty expanse. The vocal notes they ooze this character that can only identify as Gustaf, it’s enthralling and adventurous, rapturous and nothing short of iconic.

Package 2, which arrives 5th April via Royal Mountain Records is Gustaf’s first album since 2021’s Audio Drag for Ego Slobs, which nabbed the band a Beck cosign, tours with Idles, Sleaford Mods, and Yard Act, and critical acclaim. The album continues the endlessly fascinating world-building exercise of its forebear. Where Audio Drag for Ego Slobs confronted the struggle to deal with the narrator’s surroundings, finding ways to behave in a way where their emotions and actions didn’t alienate most everyone, Package Pt. 2 becomes self-aware, wondering what they might change to make life, relationships, and love a little more manageable presented via a dizzying post-punk dream brought with an irrepressible energy with astounding vocal performances throughout. With Package Pt. 2, Gustaf is in full command of a lineage that radiates from obvious touchstones like the B-52s and Talking Heads to DNA and Teenage Jesus and the Jerks. The album was produced by Erin Tonkon, who worked on David Bowie’s Blackstar, the album was recorded at Studio G Brooklyn and Circular Ruin.
