To play Pitchfork Festival London next month

What’s wrong with maybe?” Barrie asks on “Hard Candy”, her new single out now ahead of an appearance at Pitchfork Music Festival Festival London on November 12th, playing a sold out show with Youth Lagoon at EartH.

First heard in Jan 2022 on the acclaimed television show Single Drunk Female (Hulu/Freeform), “Hard Candy” is available to stream today for the first time. As a call and response conversation unfolds with a mysterious, otherworldly character, Barrie’s sugary sweet vocals cut through clouds of supernatural static; painting dramatic scenes that are over before you know it.

That immediate loop hooks and compels you, pulling you into the magnetic yet melodic cadence. The experimental soundbite brings this off-kilter tonality into the journey and reinforces this contrast to the gentle notes. An unpredictable force that shifts throughout the entire composition. Barrie’s standout expressive vocal harmonies ooze complexity and emotive fragility into the formation, the vocal tones soar through the striking loop, and this immersive atmosphere engulfs you.

And whilst the audience falls for the vulnerability of Barrie’s tones and the tranquil ambience, the shifting textures emerge and inject angular force into the ensemble. It’s so easy to become besotted in this ethereal landscape that Barrie builds, truly intoxicating, the melodies sweep you away whilst the lyrics create this mighty foundation to connect to. With “Hard Candy“, a dynamic alteration in the range of textures on offer allows a more experiential influence to shine.
