The Joy Formidable Release New Single “Share My Heat” – Out Now

Welsh alternative rock trio The Joy Formidable have shared the third of a trio of singles announced in early August. In marked contrast to the obvious commercial appeal of its predecessors, ‘Cut My Face’ and ‘The Hat’, ‘Share My Heat’ is over 15 minutes long and winds its way through numerous musical shifts, twists and turns in relentless but exhilarating fashion.

Vocalist Ritzy Bryan explains that “it’s a song about true connection and love. Deep, selfless love between humans is a beautiful part of our existence, but I’m also singing about our inherent love of nature, the living world and our kinship to everything: plants, animals, mountains and water. Can we repair our relationship with the earth and bring more reciprocity, compassion and companionship to a world that already gives us so much.”

In this 15-minute absolute colossal composition, The Joy Formidable wastes no time to propel its audience into the midst of its mammoth soundscape. The track jumps into its formation with Ritzy guiding the journey and the intensity with the melodious vocal harmonies, starting with this fragility from the harmonies which so slickly glide through the bountiful landscape. With the audience already hooked, the power ramps up and this arrangement prepares to dazzle from every expressive attribute and the scale of the landscape.

There are so many layers to this vivid composition, The Joy Formidable continue to add sharper textures, slower breakdowns, lead rhythms, oscillating synth tones, brash percussive cymbal hit and drum beats, escalating the intensity with a dynamic and robust shift. The track builds on its foundation and weaves various layers and tones into the glowing voyage.

Chaotic crypt of complex tonality, shifting time signatures, immense energy and this dip into a prog fuelled furnace. Despite the longer time length, the track keeps you fixated and gripped to the creation as it oozes this refreshing and innovative appeal. Another marvellous ensemble from an act that continues to excite time and time again.

TJF’s ‘Cradle You Again’ tour commenced on 20th September, with the schedule including several shows that were originally due to have taken place in the spring. The remaining dates are:

Comprised of lead vocalist/guitarist Ritzy Bryan, bassist/vocalist Rhydian Dafydd and drummer Matt Thomas, The Joy Formidable are originally from North Wales and currently split their time between there and Utah, “in the middle of nowhere” and the closest thing they could find in the USA to their home turf. Nevertheless, they have remained close to their loyal fanbase and launched TJF Music Club in 2019, with members able to request Backstage access, watch online shows and get exclusive songs and merchandise. It grew and evolved during the subsequent pandemic.

They released their most recent album, ‘Into The Blue’, in 2021, touring it extensively in North America. Commenting on what has been their first full UK tour in four years, Ritzy continues: “We have been so looking forward to reconnecting with our UK fans again after a long time away. Our live shows are so special to us and we are celebrating all our releases across this tour, including a special one night only orchestral show at the beautiful Clapham Grand. The Cradle You Again tour is a collective ‘cwtch’ to all our fans and a thank you for supporting us across the years.
