Runnner (aka LA-based songwriter Noah Weinman) has released a new live album, Live In Los Angeles: 08-09-2022, available exclusively via Bandcamp with an accompanying live video of the entire set on YouTube (and streaming everywhere this Friday). Released by Run For Cover Records, Live In Los Angeles: 08-09-2022 documents an impressive performance at the Troubadour, just prior to the release of Weinman’s debut full-length, Like Dying Stars, We’re Reaching Out, which came out earlier this year.

The new live film and live album capture the magic, the heartfelt emotional connection between the words, the creations, the audience and the setting. Even on a big stage, in front of a credible audience, Runnner provides one of the most immersive settings, a delicate atmosphere for this collection of tender ensembles to resonate. From start to finish, this live collection hooks you.

Across an expansive 17 song setlist, Live In Los Angeles: 08-09-2022 manages to capture the inviting homespun atmosphere of Weinman’s recordings while also expand the scope and grandeur of his songs in the live setting. The result is a must-listen for longtime fans and those new to the world of Runnner.

Weinman discussed the new live record saying:

“I’ve always tried to create space between the live versions and the recorded versions because I think that keeps things fun and exciting (and it’s really hard to capture the live energy in recorded form), but/so I’m really happy to have these live versions exist as recordings of their own now. Only people in LA have been able to see the full 7-piece Runnnerband so far, so I’m excited for everyone to hear the saxes in action.”

Since 2017 Weinman has been releasing music as Runnner, and the songwriter has already amassed an impressive catalog of beautifully homespun indie folk. Like Dying Stars, We’re Reaching Out follows Runnner’s 2021 collection album, Always Repeating, and marks his most fully realized work to date. The album is a culmination of years of songwriting and home-recording that manages to feel both intimate and cinematic all at once. Lyrically Weinman is often preoccupied with communication and the things that can go unspoken, even between people with a deep emotional bond. The songwriter describes a hectic headspace and the challenges of opening up in a way that feels at once highly specific and deeply relatable, all while the music unfolds in ways that are instantly appealing but reveal themselves even more with each listen–like an old friend that’s still surprising you.
