Breeze, the band headed by Toronto go-to producer and engineer Josh Korody (of Beliefs and Nailbiter), returns with their latest single “Heart Attack Waiting To Happen.” The band’s latest single is a dancefloor banger and Mark Gardener’s (RIDE) favorite track on the new album. The acid-house-inspired track starts with a simple synth patch and builds into a dark electro jam improvised in the studio. The track marks the path for Breeze as a full band while capturing the euphoria, frenetic energy, and manic bliss of an indie-rock rave soundtrack. “Heart Attack Waiting To Happen” was recorded by Shae Brossard (TOPS, U.S. Girls, Titus Andronicus) and sees Julia Wittman (Ducks Ltd.) on guitar, Robyn Phillips (Vallens) on guitar and vocals, James Kearns on synth and acoustic guitar and Braeden Craig on drums.

Infectious, melodic and filled with this destructive danceable beat and gritty textures. This track is mammoth on every scale.

The vocal harmonies envelop the audience as they devour this darker brooding emphasis, sweeping into the complex formation whilst stirring the emotive values through the powerful elements. Breeze continues to produce these huge-scale creations with heart at the forefront. The energy that Breeze emits into their creations is something else, it sets them apart. This immersive arrangement engulfs the audience as this mammoth if not colossal rhythm cascade through the soundscape shifting and intensifying.

Speaking to “Heart Attack Waiting To Happen”, Korody writes; ““Heart Attack Waiting to Happen” began with a simple synth patch and my desire to craft an acid-house inspired track, which the band built up into a dark and funky jam. James wrote the lyrics and the band arranged and finished the track at our first session in the newly built Candle location.

Breeze’s upcoming LP, Sour Grapes, is set for release on Hand Drawn Dracula October 6th. Sour Grapes builds upon the 90s-inspired sound of their album Only Up, which received critical acclaim from the likes of CBC Music, Pitchfork, CLASH, KEXP, NPR, Stereogum and more. The new album delivers a distinctive 90s-inspired sound that explores the complexity of relationships and builds upon the brit-pop new-wave sound that garnered critical acclaim for their 2021 release, Only Up, praised by the likes of CBC Music, Stereogum, and NPR. Sour Grapes represents an exciting direction for Breeze, capturing the essence of their evolution as a band. Originally a solo project helmed by renowned producer Josh Korody (known for his work with Tess Parks, Dilly Dally, Fucked Up, Weaves), Breeze has since transformed into a five-piece following their debut performance on KEXP Live At Home Session. The album was recorded and meticulously crafted by Korody at his Candle Recording studio, with additional recording at Hotel2Tango alongside Shae Brossard, and mastering by Mark Gardiner (of RIDE) at OX4 Sound studio.
