Slaney Bay Announce “Why Does Love Mean Loss?” EP

Set For Release September 29th & Share New Single “EST”

South West London risers Slaney Bay announce forthcoming EP ‘Why Does Love Mean Loss?’, set for release September 29th, and share lead single ‘EST’, out today (July 4th)

Fresh from a manic few months on the festival circuit, including widely-acclaimed slots at The Great Escape, Gold Sounds and Dot To Dot, the thrilling trio have also just completed a support run alongside fellow indie favourites Coach Party (previous supports include Sinead O’Brien, Bleach Lab & Low Hummer), with their accomplished live show amplifying their already glittering potential.

Heavily tipped within the tastemaker community at the start of 2023 (Dork ‘Hype List 2023’ & Under The Radar ‘23 for 2023’), Slaney Bay’s gripping and unbridled energy is showcased throughout their latest effort, marking the follow-up to cathartic first EP reveal ‘Move On’ and building on significant early press support (Billboard, The Independent, Dork, The Line Of Best Fit, Under The Radar) and several BBC Radio 1 (Jack Saunders) and BBC 6 Music (Steve Lamacq) spins.

Speaking ahead of their track release, frontwoman Cait Whitley revealed: “‘EST’ tells the tale of a love interest moving away. The whole song is imagined to take place inside an airport. You’re trying to psych yourself up to convince them to stay…but their boarding time is suffocatingly close. Is this your final chance to confess your feelings before they move to the Eastern Time Zone?”

Detailing the accompanying video, the band explained: “It tells the story of two girls building a portal, which one of them must use to inexplicably leave. It represents the idea of time running out before you can share your untold romantic feelings.”

Slaney Bay is ready to marvel in their progression as an outfit, to sit back and watch this fanbase triple in size. The band have just released one of the strongest compositions out there, built on this commanding drum shuffle, this complex low-end and the almighty sweeping intensity, hypnotic rhthyms and the most moving vocal harmonies. This loop of notes dazzle, further adding to the momentum of the infectious attributes. Slaney Bay are delving into this affectionate world where they unite power and fragility, it’s vivid and meaningful and their latest release is nothing short of a triumph.

Just a few months from their debut EP release and this trio show no signs of slowing down. Together their energy enthralls and their vision is growing, their talents continue to captivate.

Slaney Bay’s ‘EST’ is out now and available on all digital platforms here.
