Public Service Broadcasting  release a new single and video, “This New Noise”, the title track from their upcoming album, released on 8 September 2023 via Test Card Recordings (pre-order / pre-save HERE).

A grandiose and cinematic remaster of their live performance at the acclaimed 2022 BBC Proms show at London’s Royal Albert Hall“This New Noise” gradually builds with its huge orchestral backing into a climax of dancing strings atop a commanding brass section.

Speaking of “This New Noise”, which was premiered by Steve Lamacq on BBC Radio 6 MusicPublic Service Broadcasting’s J. Willgoose, Esq. said: “I wanted to create a musical equivalent of the shock and change that the advent of broadcasting would’ve brought about, using the physicality and kineticism of the orchestra to do so. The piece has movement, power but also hopefully a deep-seated, optimistic beauty to it.

Back with another moving instalment from their BBC proms performance. To see the prolific giants of Public Service Broadcasting and their vision with the release be transformed with the dramatic touch of the Symphony Orchestra, the results are captivating. A truly striking direction that keeps the audience fixated on this deeply expressive foundation, the listener is hooked on the emotive endurance.

The new track follows the band’s BBC Radio 6 Music B-listed single “Broadcasting House”, and also arrives alongside the announcement of a host of UK indie record store signings which the band will attend release week. The band will also be hosting a set of fully immersive 360 audio playbacks of the album with visuals at the ICA on 10th September.

A celebration of the power of radio written in recognition of the centenary of the BBC, This New Noise saw the band joining forces with the 88 piece BBC Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Jules Buckley. A standout performance, it received 5*s in The Telegraph who called it “a resonant, timely and ultimately touching show”. Founder member J. Willgoose, Esq. remixed the concert from scratch, bringing out even more depth and texture from a multi-layered performance and showing it in a new light.

This New Noise is the second time Public Service Broadcasting have been commissioned for the BBC Proms. In 2019 the band performed an orchestral arrangement of their 2015 studio album The Race for Space with The Multi-Story Orchestra to mark the 50th anniversary of the first manned mission to the Moon.
