Liverpool’s very own self-proclaimed ‘sexistentialist’ Brad Stank today unleashes his first single of 2023 ‘Long Distance’. The single comes with the news of his signing to the ever interesting Sunday Best, a label renowned for its eclectic roster, forward thinking approach and dedication to the leftfield and artist creativity.

‘Long Distance’ details a new long distance love affair and all of the titillation yet simultaneous nerves that come with it. Brad’s hopes for the track is that people who have found themselves longing for their far away amour can relate and take solace in it. “They’re maybe more prevalent now with the internet etc,” comments Brad on long distance relationships. “It is essentially a love song though, and the chorus line “it’s so unfair that you’re so far away” I’m sure is something anybody who’s ever been in love can relate to.”

Brad took some inspiration for ‘Long Distance’ from The Smashing Pumpkins track ‘Mayonaise’, specifically in the section featuring a harmonic guitar break. Brad had a “nostalgia trip” listening to the band before writing this song and found it coming together quickly within a couple of hours the night before the recording session.

Brad has this commanding presence that emits from those brooding vocal notes immediately. The intimate lyrics combined with the sweeping instrumentation, this combination reaches out and picks up the audience, carrying them on this gentle parade. Brad Stank continues to craft these sincere structures, creating a dazzling connection of warmth, from his vision to the listener. The warmth blankets the arrangement. Whilst Brad’s soulful, soothing harmonies mesmerize. The tones of Brad deliver this cutting heartfelt touch, with the humble lyrics and the expressive peaks of this release, Brad Stank has created another beautifully powerful, sensual ensemble.

Having released his acclaimed debut album Eternal Slowdown in 2018, Brad Stank has proved himself to be a boundary-pushing artist, captivating with his genre-defying sound and distinctive style. Blending lounge lizard jazz, funk, psychedelic rock, and smoky blues, Brad Stank has become a sensual woozy-pop master for the ages.
