Out May 26th, ‘Everyone’s Crushed’ is the Matador Records debut from Brooklyn duo Water From Your Eyes. Today, watch the animated video for the album’s second single, “True Life”, which teams ping-ponging guitar riffs with drop-tuned bass and an unexpected shoutout to Neil Young.

“‘True life’ is our Neil Young-inspired quasi-nu metal stomp,” explains the band. “It is also intended to be our ‘Short Skirt / Long Jacket.’ The bridge was initially meant to contain lyrics from ‘Cinnamon Girl,’ but Neil Young’s lawyers wouldn’t let us use them. Now they are about how Neil Young wouldn’t let us use his words. The rest of the song deals with life and assorted complications of the material world.”

Water From Your Eyes the duo returns with a new single which will obliterate your universe. With the fierce tones, and darting instrumentation alternating with the intensive alarm-like bursts, you’ll be hooked on this mammoth ensemble. Bouncing to and from Brown’s compelling calmer vocal harmonies, looping the lyrics and providing this contrasting pull to the fierce soundscape.

The resonating boisterous bass notes reflect into the complex landscape, fuelling the vastness and lacing the heavy and robust foundations of this new track. Together, Nate and Rachel produce such vivid arrangements, each with this ability to hook the listener and move their own mood. This eccentric energy that Nate and Rachel convey and channel into their immersive soundscapes, it’s intense, it’s evolving, it’s completely magnetic. With their second track from the forthcoming album, the frantic kaleidoscopic abrasiveness of this track will cause havoc with the audiences’ own senses, the pair have this refreshing ability to craft such sonically industrious releases with a lasting effect.

Water From Your Eyes will support Interpol on their UK dates in May. They are currently on the road in North America opening for Snail Mail throughout April and an east coast headline run will follow in June. Find a complete itinerary below.
