INTERPOL ANNOUNCE COLLABORATIVE PROJECT

‘INTERPOLATIONS’ FEATURING DANIEL AVERY, MAKAYA MCCRAVEN, JEFF PARKER, JESU AND WATER FROM YOUR EYES

PERFORM AT SOMERSET HOUSE SUMMER SERIES 2023 + UK HEADLINE DATES

Interpol have announced ‘Interpolations’, a project to be released over the coming months, which sees songs from the band’s latest album, ‘The Other Side Of Make-Believe’, reworked by a group of artists encompassing Daniel Avery, Makaya McCraven, Jeff Parker, Jesu and Water From Your Eyes. The first installment of the series is released now, with Makaya McCraven’s interpolation of “Big Shot City”.

In addition, a mini-documentary by photographer and frequent collaborator Atiba Jefferson, filmed during the band’s recording of ‘The Other Side Of Make Believe’ in November 2021 in London’s Battery Studio, sees its first wide release today, following its initial debut as part of the Big Shot City album release event in LA.

In a statement on the ‘Interpolations’ project, the band said:

“We are proud to unveil the ‘Interpolations’ project, a collaborative series wherein 5 talented artists were invited to reimagine tracks from our latest album, The Other Side Of Make-Believe – and the results are truly inspired.

From the Latin drum and bass rhythms applied to “Big Shot City” by Makaya McCraven to the esoteric and propulsive soundscape created by Water From Your Eyes for “Something Changed,”Interpolations is an exotic journey that reframes our songs and joins them to the vision of talented artists we admire.

Daniel Avery completely strips“Greenwich” down to only a few of its component parts – allowing Juliet Seger’s angelic backing vocal to float hypnotically over driving electronic currents.

And the reimaginings of “Passenger”and “Toni” by Jeff Parker and Jesu respectively round out this collection with flare, with recontextualized arrangements underlining and often deepening the emotion, drama and excitement of the originals.

We are so excited that such a great collection of artists were able to connect with our music and we hope these songs connect with you.”

Interpol will perform as one of the headliners of Somerset House Summer Series 2023 on July 10th. The band also play a run of UK headline shows in May, June and July, including appearances in Brighton, Leeds, Edinburgh, Bristol, and Liverpool. Support will come from fellow Matador label mates and ‘Interpolations’ collaborators Water From Your Eyes.

Spring and summer will see Interpol at the top of a number of festival bills, including CoronaCapital (Mexico), Outside Lands (USA), Best Kept Secret (NL), Sideways (Finland), Rock Werchter (Belgium), Low Festival (Spain), as well as taking their classic second album “Antics” as a one off show to headline Days Off Festival at the Philharmonie de Paris (France).

Interpol released their 7th album, “The Other Side Of Make-Believe”, in July 2022 to critical acclaim. MOJO called the album “quietly masterful”, Clash hailed it as “some of the boldest, most uncompromising work of their career”, and NME described it as “a confident, rewarding and subtly adventurous new chapter”.
