Bella Union’s Private Pressing Announces Release Of Harpist Eva Lunny’s Album “Sonics & Meditations”
Bella Union’s Private Pressing label has announced the June 9th release of harpist Eva Lunny’s debut album Sonics & Meditations. Written and recorded between 2020-2021, Sonics and Meditations reflects on feelings of inertia, translating a year of uncertainty into cascading sonic rhythms and ambient contemplation.
“What You Needed” is a truly enchanting exploration, built on this cadence of sweeping melodies, addictive looping, and delicate textures. A truly mesmeric creation with this stirring movement and emotive drive. Every element assists with the hypnotic characteristics of this immense piece.
Producer, musician, and composer Eva Lunny shapes sonically diverse soundscapes and neoclassical harp pieces, building on themes of memory, space, spiritual growth and meditation. Her influences include jazz-harp pioneers Dorothy Ashby and Alice Coltrane, as well as a collection of contemporary ambient and neoclassical musicians. Eva’s process includes hours of improvisation balanced with considered production and free-flowing experimentation, resulting in complex layers of sounds and distinctive distortion of a both uniquely classical and contemporary instruments.
