Alffa Unveils New Music Video For “Unkind Mind” – Out Now via Recordiau Côsh Records
Alffa, the powerful duo from North Wales, are back with their sublime new single “Unkind Mind“, the first release of 2023. Alffa consists of Dion Wyn Jones and Sion Eifion Land and together the pair have formed this supreme legacy.
Following the single release of the sublime “Unkind Mind” which was unveiled on March 31st, today we are delighted to share the new video.
The new single captures Alffa at the absolute peak of their sound and songwriting prowess.
Alffa commands your full attention with the visceral vision of gripping the new single “Unkind Mind“, a ferocious and almighty composition that hooks you immediately. The magnitude of their vision is something else. The pair have crafted this powerful deeply immersive and complex soundscape. Through the bed of sonically surging gritty textures, lies this evocative layer of volatility.
This mammoth new release represents this spectrum of intense scrutiny we plague ourselves, the pair allow mental health issues to speak through the rapturous ensemble. Through the lyrics, the repetition, and the soaring emotive range on offer throughout the new release, Alffa reminds the audience, to remind themselves, stop being so hard on ourselves/themselves. Whilst the placement of the voice notes speaks with such volume to the audience, the track starts to add further attributes and dangerous layers to the release, meandering into this heavy status and leading onto this explosive crescendo. The instrumentation and the immersive thick textures rise to quiet the longing lyrics and allow the fierce lashes to reign.
Alffa is prolific, the range of their far-reaching atmosphere is simply consuming. The new track has this effective essence of alternating between fragility to fervor.
To accompany the single we are honored to share the new music video. The standout new video was filmed and directed by Aled Victor. Perfectly complementing the release’s theme, abrasiveness, and awareness. Slamming through scenes that reflect the ensemble’s striking movement. Speaking of the film, Aled shares:
“Taking visual cues from the music videos for ‘Slowly Separate – Crows’ and ‘Mother – IDLES’ my plan was to create a video that portrayed the beauty of the Welsh landscape while also having fun smashing some concrete up in my back garden.
Filmed along the serene dunes of Traeth Llanddwyn and deep within its skeletal forests along the Ynys Môn coast, shooting ‘Unkind Mind’ on a Saturday afternoon was an absolute pleasure. Even battling the unpredictable weather was a blessing in disguise that helped split the video into its two halves – the colour section and the black & white section.”
In support of the latest release, Alffa will be performing live over the next few months, catch the duo at the following shows, tickets here.
