LONG DIVISION FESTIVAL SHARES LINEUP FOR FINAL EDITION THIS SUMMER

ARAB STRAP, THE LOVELY EGGS, THE ORIELLES LEAD LATEST ANNOUNCEMENT FOR AWARD-WINNING WAKEFIELD FESTIVAL OF MUSIC AND CULTURE

10th June – Various Venues, Wakefield City Centre

Award-winning Wakefield festival Long Division has announced the lineup for the final edition of the long-running event, taking place on Saturday 10th June across multiple venues and spaces throughout the city, with an opening show on Friday night.

Cult Scottish indie outfit Arab Strap lead the bill with a special stripped-down set, whilst festival favourites The Lovely Eggs bring their technicolour chaos back to Wakefield and local leftfield legends The Orielles help see the West Yorkshire institution out in style.

Elsewhere, Long Division 2023 will also play host to the likes of bdrmm, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, DEADLETTER, The Membranes, Loose Articles, Sisterwives and SPIELMANN as well as inviting a series of beloved local acts from the festival’s rich history back for one last time. Amongst Wakefield’s finest playing the festival are sugar-sweet synth act The Research, reuniting for the first time since 2008; Captured Tracks signed, post-punk power trio Drahla and cherished folk collective Mi Mye.

Started in 2011 by the Rhubarb Bomb fanzine as a celebration of Wakefield’s DIY culture and grassroots creativity, Long Division has grown into a vital, year-round arts organisation and beloved annual festival, always aiming to develop and celebrate the city’s unique cultural prowess as inspired by the people who live, work and create there.

Taking inspiration from the festival’s past and the promising future of live music in the region, Long Division’s 2023 lineup looks set to cement the festival’s legacy as a foundation for the future of culture and creativity in Wakefield and beyond.

Dean Freeman, Founder / Director, Long Division:

“The response since we announced this would be our final year has been huge and we’re humbled by the kind words people have shared. When it came to bands, there were a few old friends we had to call up. They’ve been there since the start and supported us when few others would. But, it was also important we went out as we came in; supporting new music and fresh voices. And in that way, now I sit back and look at this initial list of artists, I think it looks like a first festival rather than a final one and I think that’s important. Whilst you sip your final pint at Long Division, you’ll still be discovering new things. Oh, and Arab Strap right? I can’t wait – see you there.”
