Portals Festival 2023 Share More Line-Up Additions

Including Nordic Giants, Ef, Svalbard & More

French visual post-rock extraordinaires Nordic Giants are announced as Theatre Stage headliners of Portals Festival, closing the Saturday night of the event at EartH, Hackney.

Nordic Giants’ stunning short films, accompanied by their transformative live musical performance, promises to transport the EartH Theatre audience into another world of experimental post-rock.

Joining them are Swedish post-rock legends Ef (Pelagic Records), who play their first UK show in almost nine years, with the release of their first album in six years.

Post-metal/blackgaze rising stars Svalbard (Church Road Records) promise to bring aggression and full bodied sonic textures to EartH Hall.

Also announced is the psych/stoner-rock of Elephant Tree, the joyous euphoria of mini-orchestra Human Pyramids, the electric noise-rock beats of Big Lad, the chaotic alt-rock energy of The Guru Guru, the frenetic math-rock of Axes, the joyous alt/math-rock of Bicurious, the modern progressive rock of Seims, and the psychedelic riffs of Memory of Elephants.

They join the already announced Saturday EartH Hall headliners And So I Watch You From Afar, and Jambinai, VLMV, Shy, Low & Lakes.

Festival organiser Sam Festenstein comments:

“Nordic Giants are a band we’ve been trying to book for many years, and actually did in 2020 before the festival was rescheduled. We’re delighted to finally have them perform on the Portals stage this year, alongside some of our favourite bands at our new and larger venue EartH in Hackney.”
