Langkamer Share New Single “Hamlet”
Taken From Forthcoming EP “Red Thread Route” due November 30th
Bristol-based country-tinged indie-rockers are days away from the release of their highly anticipated new EP Red Thread Route which is due November 30th via Breakfast Records. The new record follows last year’s flawless debut album West Country, Langkamer have now shared their latest single “Hamlet”.
Their new single is described as a catchy and deceptively high-octane ode to existential despair – pitching up somewhere between Pavement and Canned Heat – where melancholy battles with infectious hooks.
Lead vocalist Josh Jarman says: “The questions that arise in ‘Hamlet’ come from the deepest darkest recesses of the human imagination. The lowest troughs of the mortal waveform. Theoretical oblivion.”
The explosive intro to “Hamlet” is enough to captivate your full attention, Langkamer weaves their enthralling efforts into this fierce atmosphere. Punchy percussive beats and clear cymbal hits, elevated bass rhythms, this rich and consuming fuzz, and the vibrant guitar tone that simply shines. The ensemble showcases the mammoth structure filled with addictive melodies and raw and harmonic vocal notes.
Langkamer are one of the most important acts, their ability to deliver such complex yet immersive arrangements consistently, simply sets this outfit apart. Their expressive landscape threads elements of fun throughout, lifting the heaviness at crucial turns.
Speaking of the EP, The EP was written while the band were out on the road touring their debut album and, with its short and mostly sweet songs, it’s designed to convey the feeling of being in motion.
“On the other hand,” clarifies singer/drummer Josh Jarman, “some of the songs are about staying still and feeling the world move around you. The global conveyor belt.”
“The restlessness of the human condition is satiated at least in part by travel, and it’s a wonderful feeling. To be on the go. But being in transit isn’t a quick fix, and sometimes your problems can loom on the road up ahead. And the further you go the closer they get. The more ominous they can seem. I guess we wanted to write about that.”
