HINAKO OMORI

Confirmed to support Beth Orton on tour this month
  Plus new headline dates

Following this year’s acclaimed debut album ‘a journey…’ and the following EP of reworks, ‘a journey with friends…’, both released on Houndstooth, Hinako Omori has been announced to support Beth Orton on her UK tour later this month, as well as a run of headline and festival dates, including ADE, Le Guess Who and a London headline date.

Along with the new live dates, Omori has shared a beautiful video for “The Richest Garden In Your Memory” – one of the many standout moments of her debut album ‘a journey…’ which sees her set a poem by poet/philosopher Emily R Grosholz to blissful, delicate piano and warming electronics to captivating effect.

‘a journey…’ saw Omori experimenting with the physical and psychological effects of different frequencies, meditating on healing and soothing sounds and taking inspiration from the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku, or forest-bathing. The video for “The Richest Garden In Your Memory” continues to expand upon these themes, filmed at Omved Gardens in Highgate, London.

Speaking on the idea for the video, Hinako comments: “As I felt deeply rooted in nature during the album creation process, I thought Omved Gardens would be the most wonderful location to film a live video – it’s a beautiful hidden garden in Highgate, with the ethos of connecting people with nature and the environment, creative collaborations, sustainability and natural wellbeing. I love this quote from their website – “knowing more about ourselves and knowing more about nature is one and the same thing”. The team there were incredibly kind and very generous throughout the whole experience.”

The film’s director Jessie Rodger adds: “Hinako is very open to collaboration and this live film feels like a synthesis of who we are as artists in our different disciplines. I loved being able to respond visually to the soft layered synths and vocals in her music, incorporating different layers of textures in the film to reflect these elements.

In this live video we wanted to create a dreamy otherworldly space, somewhere a little bit magical for a track that feels at home in the imagination. The song is really intimate and it was important for the video to feel truly live, we recorded everything on site and used one complete take in the film, the very first take of the day. You might even hear the live performance of the local birds in the background of the recording… Brett Cox mixed and recorded the track and we had a lovely day making this live film surrounded by greenery, beautiful sounds and good people in a hidden corner of London.”“The Richest

The beauty captured in the above live video is something else. Capturing the raw and immersive intentness and sublime detail that constructs the arrangement. The affection that emits instantly and this commanding presence that hooks your full attention, an artist that channels such power into the perfected orchestrations.
