UK dates with Japanese Breakfast this month

Ahead of European dates with Japanese Breakfast later this month, songwriter and producer Barrie Lindsay shares her brand new double single “Nocturne Interlude” and “Unholy Appetite”  on Winspear.
Accompanied by visualizers from musician and visual artist, Justin Majetich (who records under the name Majetic), “Nocturne Interlude” inhabits the dark dreamy aura of nighttime, while “Unholy Appetite” is a burst of sunshine and warmth: demonstrating Barrie’s ability to consistently deliver top-tier indie pop. Fans have been searching to find “Nocturne Interlude” after hearing it in an end credit scene of NBC’s Good Girls in 2021.

Unholy Appetite commences with this brighter attitude, despite the raw lyrics the tonality dazzles and lifts the audience up. It’s delicate and focuses on the enriching textures that bounce from the moving melody throughout. The second track shared, Nocturne Interlude carefully constructs this mesmeric appeal with the chiming notes, the atmopshere soon shifts and alters the mood of this release. A short, sharp and enigmatic exploration.

The two singles follow Barrie’s second album ‘Barbara’, released in March 2022 on Winspear. Titled after Barrie’s birth forename, ‘Barbara’ is an album that heralds a radical transformation: lyrics previously whispered between melodic synths and hazy backbeats now rise to the forefront, telling highly personal tales of love and loss atop intense blends of instrumentation. ‘Barbara’ brought to life Barrie’s inner world with newfound boldness and marked a new chapter in her work, which has seen her stepping into the spotlight and opening up with a newfound confidence and self-acceptance.
