The Big Moon are excited to share Trouble, the second single from their forthcoming third album, Here Is Everything, released on 14^th October via Fiction Records.

The power of The Big Moon resonates through this deep and touching release, that devouring energy simply shimmers throughout the new track before the release heads towards the explosive finale. The immersive attributes of this outfit and their touching ensemble are something else. Lyrically, the words will connect with so many and move the audience as they fixate on the most infectious chorus that all can throw themselves into. Once again, The Big Moon brings this cutting affection and warmth to the front of this harrowing release.

The second single to be shared from the forthcoming album release of which proudly showcases the immense strength of all the musicians uniting as one mighty force, their sound so defined, progressed, and perfected. Within each track, they share the journey focussing on one another’s strengths and mesmeric talent.

Starting with a sparse drumbeat and bass, Trouble soon explodes into a technicolour chorus, with those driving guitars that have become an almost trademark sound of The Big Moon. It’s a bold, leftfield pop song that acts as another timely introduction to the band’s third record next month.

Juliette Jackson on Trouble: “Trouble is about remembering walking over the railway bridge to the hospital to give birth. This is a bridge I cross every day, but somehow in my memory on that day it’s like a bridge over a canyon in a technicolour Wizard of Oz jungle landscape. Like giant leaves and blurry edges and oversaturated colours. But it’s just a pissy graffiti-covered South London pedestrian bridge. And it’s about learning that memories aren’t always right, and you don’t have to hang on to them and be traumatised by them forever. 

“I’ve since realised that this song has been more than a song to me, it’s been healing. Birth is traumatic, however you do it, and for me the early months of motherhood were even more traumatising. No one tells you how difficult breastfeeding is! It’s almost like, by making that experience sound like joy and then playing it again and again with my best friends, I’ve found a way of reframing my memory of that period. You can forget, you can remember it differently, you can heal, you can live.”

Like so many records landing in store and on streaming services right now, Here Is Everything was conceived during the weight and worry of lockdown in a pandemic. Worlds were turned upside down and inside out. Lives became seismically different, whilst every day a carbon copy of the last. So, whilst Covid pulled the duvet tightly up over our heads, it was also the unlikely backdrop to welcoming new life. Vocalist Jules might have started lockdown teaching fans how to play guitar on Zoom to help pay the rent, but she ended it as mother to a super little human being.

Here is Everything documents the arrival of that baby in real time, and the simultaneous arrival of a new mother, full of excitement and fear.  Meanwhile, the rest of the band doubled-down in the studio, taking Jules’ embryonic song frameworks and stepping forward as one, revelling in an innate, giddy togetherness and with a clutch of genuinely fantastic tunes.

Here Is Everything was mostly self-produced, with the expert guidance and expertise of co-producers CECIL (Self Esteem, Jehnny Beth, PJ Harvey) and the Grammy Award winning producer Ben Allen (Gnarls Barkley, Deer Hunter, and the producer of Walking Like We Do).
