Anna B Savage Shares new single & video “The Ghost”
Announces London show at Village Underground on March 28th 2023

Anna B Savage is sharing her new single “The Ghost“, which is out now via City Slang Records and was produced by Mercury Prize winning producer Mike Lindsay (Lump, Tunng). Savage is also set to play a headline London show at Village Underground on March 28th 2023.

Speaking about new single “The Ghost”, Savage said “Exhausted from years of being haunted by an ex-partner, this song is a plea to let go, or be let go of. Exploring the particular cruelty of the human brain, that love can be felt so deeply, hurt so essentially and so much, and still feel so present many years later.”

The video for “The Ghost” was directed by Savage with creative direction from Sophie Hurley-Walker. It was shot by Katie Silvester & Sophie Hurley-Walker over multiple days on location in North Yorkshire and was then edited by Louis Hemming-Lowe.

On the visuals, Savage offered “We wanted to explore a narrative where uncomfortable meets beautiful, and everything is alternately comforting and immediately strange and uncanny, like the tendrils of old love, once so joyous turned sour and frightening.”

Anna’s back and brings this remarkable new creation, set to enthrall. Electronic elements and this fierce percussive shuffle fuse with the delicate nature of Anna’s vibrant vocal tones, this intimate exploration exudes this expressive flair from the dynamic harmonies and explosive elongated notes. This whirling ambiance allows the stirring keys to pierce through the atmosphere, mixing with the gentle yet addictive rhythms and the striking strings to inject such dominating intensity at these key points within the exploration.

Another ambitious, tender yet destructive release from Anna B Savage. The lyrics bring this personal plea to the vision, bringing lashes of anguish to the emotive piece. From start to finish this track flourishes with the immense emotional cadence that controls the intimacy, the audience hooked on the powerful arrangement and the haunting words that leave this lasting impression. A truly volatile orchestration.

Savage’s self released debut EP caught the attention of Father John Misty and Jenny Hval, both of whom took Savage across Europe on tour. This was followed by the release of Savage’s debut album ‘A Common Turn’, which came out in early 2021 on City Slang and received wide critical acclaim.

‘A Common Turn’ was deeply vulnerable but without submission. Savage laid claim to her own fragility, and the stories she told were of taking up space, finding connections, and owning the power in not knowing all the answers. The record was featured in many ‘Albums of the Year’ lists including those by Loud and Quiet and BBC Radio 6 Music. Savage then released her EP ‘These Dreams’, which featured three tracks from the same sessions as ‘A Common Turn’. Since then Savage has toured across the UK and Europe including a sold out show at Kings Place, London as well as performances at SXSW and Roskilde. “The Ghost” is the first new music since then and is the first glimpse of what is to come from the London-born singer songwriter in the coming months.
