Announces new EP ‘Elevation Extended’ due Sept 9th via SusannaSonata
Norwegian artist Susanna released her highly acclaimed interpretations of poetry from ‘The Flowers of Evil’ by Charles Baudelaire called ‘Elevation’ in April, together with curated music by Stina Stjern and Delphine Dora. The album was a follow up to 2020’s ‘Baudelaire & Piano’ and now Susanna is releasing the collaborative EP ‘Elevation Extended’ due out Sept 9th via her label SusannaSonata. The record features new music and a gorgeous new version of the title track, all recorded with Susanna, Stina Stjern and French artist Delphine Dora.
The first single from upcoming Elevation Extended EP, “Come Avalanche” is a dreamy floating track. Female voices mixed with scratching of tapes, violins and synths makes out a mystical etheric vibe and a gorgeous introduction to the EP. Susanna will play ‘Elevation’ concerts together with Stina Stjern and Delphine Dora during the fall.
“The three of us first met this spring” Susanna says. “Despite the fact that we already had made the Elevation album together, that was some sort of a covid-recording, long distance exchange of music and files. So it was a joyous experience to actually meet in April and be in the same room. The result is this wonderful EP, and I am so much looking forward to play more together in the time to come.”
The startling new single welcomes the audience into the obscure world, this landscape filled with familiar tones, natural analogue sound bites and this distinct jarring sensation. Layering the structure with a mesmeric pull amongst the various textures, some warm with addictive touches, some darker, with a more brooding impression jolting through the ensemble. This release is more of a journey than anything else, an experience which feels alive, almost touchable, this immersive vibe which alters the mood of the audience.
