Portals Festival 2023

First Line-Up Announcement and New Venue

Portals Festival announces move to a new multi-stage venue and a massive first lineup announcement which includes And So I Watch You From Afar as the first headliner.

After a number of sell-out years at the Dome in Tufnell Park, Portals Festival 2023 will move to EartH, Hackney allowing the festival to grow and increase capacity.

The new iteration of the festival will take place on 27th & 28th May and like previous years will feature three stages, this time across EartH’s Main Hall, Theatre and Bar.

Belfast math/post rock legends And So I Watch You From Afar have been announced as the first headliners of the expanded event. The band are famous for their frenetic and joyous live shows, and look set to take Portals Festival by storm.

Joining them are Korean experimental/post-rock innovators Jambinai, playing their first UK show since 2019. They will headline the Theatre stage.

Jambinai are a truly unique band that blends western post rock influences with traditional Korean instrumentation to create a mesmerising live show that truly has to be seen to be believed.

Also announced is the dreamlike post-rock of VLMV, the euphoric math/post rock of Shy, Low (USA, Pelagic Records) and the charming indie/math rock of Lakes (Big Scary Monsters).

Festival Director Asher Kenton comments:

“We’re beyond excited to signal a new chapter for Portals Festival. Moving to EartH allows us to book some of the best live bands in the world like And So I Watch You From Afar and Jambinai who we’ve always dreamed of booking. The new venue enables us to produce a better and more accessible experience for our audience”
