Shares new single “It Had To Be You”

Warhaus, the moniker of Belgium’s foremost alt-crooner, Maarten Devoldere, has unveiled new single, “It Had To Be You“.
Following recent single “Open Window”, “It Had To Be You” is a second taste of new music from the flourishing artist. Devoldere’s second solo album, Warhaus (2017) drew comparisons to a “millennial Leonard Cohen”, singing deep, dark and groove-ridden songs of love and hate, managing to be both romantic and searingly brutal at the same time.
“You’re mistaking me for someone in control”, he sings over irresistible melodies. Talking about the new single, Devoldere confesses, “Sobering up from love is a painful affair. it’s failing your p*ssing test at work day after day until one morning you’re finally free. That freedom comes with the irresistible urge to enrol your name on the list once more. Love, a beautiful mess forever more’
Immediately this atmospherical creation grabs your attention, pulled in by those buoyant bass notes and precise drum fills, then the brooding vocal harmonies weave through that visceral ambiance and becomes the intoxicating attribute to this ensemble.
Captured within the arrangement and flowing through to the film, Warhaus defies his vision with cinematic traits. This landscape created in just over 3 minutes truly captivates and builds this visionary aspect from the structure to the words to the overall vibe that resonates from this track.
