Following the release of their widely acclaimed new album Hollow Heart, London cosmic country purveyors The Hanging Stars are sharing their new single “I Don’t Want To Feel So Bad Anymore”. Laden with rich harmonies and fuzzy pedal steel, ‘I Don’t Want To Feel So Bad Anymore’ is The Hanging Stars at their sharpest and most upbeat with the track fast becoming a live favourite.

The energy that The Hanging Stars continuously capture in their cosmic creations, that energy is something else. Oozing from every angle of the new single which perfectly directs their magic through the musicianship. The country folk charm and pysch bursts ignite the intensity throughout, the moving melody pulls you into the midst of their plentiful textures and captivating character. The intimate and reflective lyrics paint such darker tones whilst the atmosphere assist to put this spin on the words, utlimately the audience too feelsthis refreshing sense of freedom for when you finally embrace the change that was holding you down.

Speaking on the track, lead singer Richard Olsen says, “I Don’t Want To Feel So Bad Anymore. I really don’t. The fundamentalist capitalism, the erosion of compassion and empathy, a million pounds of jewels on a chair next to a ruddy well fed man sporting medals he never earned, telling us there’s no money. What happened? I thought we were supposed to love our neighbour. I feel so bad. Dark and light, warm and cold, Love and Haight. The lightness of a 12 string acoustic set against a Flying Burrito soaked steel guitar with a ringing Rickenbacker leading the way. There, I feel a little better now.”

“I Don’t Want To Feel So Bad Anymore” begins as a throwback to the sound of The See See – from whence The Hanging Stars sprang – with McGuinn-style opening and garage vivacity; it then evolves through hints of baroque and fresh harmonies.

With their latest album, The Hanging Stars transcended their well-earned reputation as masters of a captivating meld of blissful psychedelic folk and harmony-laden cosmic country. The fourth album from the London five-piece, recorded at Edwyn Collins’ Clashnarrow Studios in North-Eastern Scotland, scales fresh artistic heights, as they conjure a record more sonically varied, more contemporary, and less in awe of its influences.
