MIDNIGHT RODEO

Release New Single ‘Shootout Sunday’

 Out via FATCAT RECORDS

Nottingham’s newest psych exports Midnight Rodeo share tantalising second single ‘Shootout Sunday’, out now via FatCat Records (Honeyblood, The Twilight Sad, We Were Promised Jetpacks).

Partnering with the renowned indie label for their first set of releases, the group draw influences from Allah-las, Juniore, La Luz and Pink Floyd, with ‘Shootout Sunday’ a swaggering homage to 60’s low-fi garage rock, set firmly in a slick west coast modality and incorporating a stream of glistening dream pop synth lines that innovate on the tried and tested psychedelic formula.

Speaking on the release, the six-piece explained: “‘Shootout Sunday’ is about the journey and anticipation around goals in life, and the inevitable feeling of dissatisfaction when you reach your destination. It’s a westernised take on the disillusionment of arrival fallacy; a Bonnie & Clyde-esque tale of two lovers mourning the journey’s end”.

The crashing cymbals and colliding drum beat kick off the arrangement before the jaunty notes and rhythmic tones join and sculpt the impressive and vibrant landscape. Sweeping melodies and the delicate vocal harmonies are truly intoxicating, as the instrumentation showcases it’s ample power and the track exudes endless hooks, Midnight Rodeo proudly capture this addictive energy. A track with this lasting atmopshere and immersive psych elements pushing the release further into it’s voyage.

Earning significant praise throughout the tastemaker landscape (So Young, Clash Magazine, Under The Radar), Midnight Rodeo are set to hit the festival circuit over the summer months, with further release plans in the works as they aim to build on their promising early momentum.

Midnight Rodeo’s ‘Shootout Sunday’ is out now via Fat Cat Records and available on all digital platforms.
