Alela Diane Shares New Single “Paloma”

Out Now via Naive

Portland based songwriter Alela Diane has released her new single Paloma through Naive. Produced by Tucker Martine, the single is the second of two tracks to be release by Diane in June 2022, following earlier single ‘Howling Wind’.

The new music comes four years after the release of Diane’s critically acclaimed sixth studio album ‘Cusp’, described by the Guardian as ‘outstanding’, and the reissue of Diane’s mythical second album, ’The Pirate’s Gospel’, which has gone on to sell over 100,000 copies.

Speaking about the new single, Diane says “‘Paloma’ was written down in Mexico during a violent thunderstorm that took out the power for a few days. It is a musing on the volatility of the systems we build, and the knowledge that nature always gets the last word.”

Alela Diane continues to craft the most enchanting, emotive creations with this true lasting impression. “Paloma” sweeps you into its affectionate course, lashes of sweet tonality and rich textures create the expressive landscape but the power comes via Diane’s articulate and heartfelt vocal melodies that convey such personal lyrics which push the movement further afield. The depth of emotion runs deep within the complex structure and ultimately compels the listener as they too embrace and experience the vivid voyage. This stirring sense of fragility becomes the most sensational hook of this ensemble.

Alela Diane is a Portland, Oregon based singer-songwriter who grew up in the winding rivers and golden hillsides of Nevada City, California. As a child, she listened to her parents harmonise bluegrass songs in the kitchen and began writing her own sings when she moved to San Francisco at the age of nineteen. Diane has been releasing albums since her move to the NW in the mid 2000s and has toured extensively throughout Europe and North America. Keep your ear to the ground for Diane’s next album.
