Alice Boman Shares Cover Of The War On Drugs’ “Red Eyes”
Swedish songwriter Alice Boman has unveiled a delicate cover of The War On Drugs’ “Red Eyes”, out now on digital platforms.
The cover was originally recorded as part of a session for Swedish radio many years ago, and is finally getting an official release after a recent endorsement from the band themselves. Listen below…
Boman released her acclaimed debut album Dream On in early 2020, and will be returning with new music very soon.
Boman says of the song, “8 years ago I did a live session on Swedish National Radio recorded in my mother’s apartment on the piano I grew up with and later recorded my first EP Skisser on. When they asked me to do a cover of a track I loved, I chose Red Eyes. It’s such a brilliant song. This was my very first radio performance and I was so nervous but so happy about the response. We never gave the cover a proper release but when The War On Drugs played in Stockholm recently and Adam mentioned my version of the song it hit us that maybe it deserves to be released.”
The new cover is enchanting, from the decadence of the keys and the analog tendencies of the recording process to the expressive vocal harmonies on offer throughout. Affection is captured within every attribute of this ensemble, stripped back to showcase this pure intimacy that hooks the audience.
