Beach Bunny announce their highly anticipated second album Emotional Creature out 22nd July on Mom+Pop Music. Across the album’s 12 new songs, the Chicago-based quartet, fronted by Lili Trifilio who is also the band’s songwriter, soar to new heights of magnetic energy and dive to new depths of unguarded vulnerability further cementing Trifilio’s well-earned reputation as a leading voice of her generation.

To celebrate the announcement, Beach Bunny release the buoyant new single “Fire Escape.” The song is preceded by 2021’s blissful “Oxygen,” which features on the forthcoming album.

On the release, Trifilio says, “We are always changing, growing, and adapting – it’s a deeply ingrained part of the human experience. We strive to be stronger, trust we’ll grow smarter, and spend most of our lives reaching for comfort and happiness. Sometimes, life is stagnant, sometimes, life is difficult – but the wonderful part of being human is that we evolve and make the bleak moments beautiful – we find new ways to survive. Humans are emotional creatures and I wanted to capture that with this album in order to show how complex, sometimes tragic, and mostly wonderful the human experience can be.”

Fire Escape is a blazing inferno, filled with a nostalgic force that pulls you in as the fierce instrumentation channels the intensity. The expressive vocal notes add this harmonic touch to the dextrous course.

Emotional Creature was written immediately prior to and during the pandemic and produced by pop-punk go-to Sean O’Keefe (Fall Out Boy, Motion City Soundtrack) at Chicago’s Shirk Studios. Finding herself back at her parents’ home in spring of 2020 following the SOLD OUT tour surrounding the band’s critically and commercially acclaimed debut Honeymoon, Trifilio coped with her new reality by retreating into sci-fi stories and her always-active imagination. She envisioned new places to travel in her mind, thus dreaming up big, bombastic Y2K-esque pop sounds to construct the album and its galaxial imagery.

Beach Bunny has garnered over a billion streams across their discography and sold over 60,000 tickets since the beginning of lockdown, not to mention getting three consecutive singles on the Alternative radio chart, with “Cloud 9” cracking the top 25 and going RIAA-certified Gold, their second Gold single of 2021 following “Prom Queen.” Honeymoon earned best of the year nods from NY Times to Rolling Stone and saw the band perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. Last year, the band collaborated with Tegan and Sara on a reimagined version of “Cloud 9” and MARINA on “I Love You But I Love Me More.”

The band will embark on a 35+ date North American and European tour playing the largest rooms of their career. The band will also make their Coachella and Primavera Sound debuts, among other festival stops. Tickets available here:
