Julia-Sophie Signs To Beat Palace Records & Releases New EP “it feels like thunder”

Anglo-French electronic auteur Julia-Sophie has today unveiled her new 3 track EP “it feels like thunder”, the artists’ first release on Beat Palace Records (a new imprint founded by Anna Prior of Metronomy).

it feels like thunder; released 3rd March, the first in a trilogy of EP releases. It’s described as a marrying of her two main impulses: electronic discovery and classic songwriting roots; analogue warmth tempered by digital chilliness.

The EP kicks off with the opener “Dial Your Number“, the audience embraces the intricate beats that start to sculpt this immersive ensemble. The buoyant beats bolt around the tender atmosphere whilst the ethereal vocal harmonies carve this sincere route for the journey. The elements that create this explosive experimental piece continue to multiple, whilst this sonically crazy composition pulls you in, the volatility of the intimate vocal notes and the pure vocal delivery keep the audience grounded and centered on the affection throughout the mighty landscape.

“not beautiful” starts slower, more brooding, more complex than the first track. An intense ride from the first passage, delicately and precisely manipulating the violent electronic strides which surge forming the compelling sound waves, the darker tonalities of the track alternate throughout by the power adjusting to allow the focus on the soft and tender sounds from Julia-Sophie. As the track leads to a piercing finale and despite the mammoth hooks and clashes this is a deeply raw composition, bringing affection in to conquer the beats and leave this delicate imprint.

Finally, the fragility of “video girl” shines, leaving a remarkable impression and allowing the flawless range from this artist to dazzle. Stripping back on the expressive electronic currents usually found in Julia-Sophie’s work, this fearless influence emerges throughout. That fearless attitude resonates with the power of this fragile formation. Julia-Sophie removes the boundaries to let this personal story capture your heart.
