Cassels Share New Single “Beth’s Recurring Dream” Taken From New Album “A Gut Feeling” due 4th February 2022 via God Unknown Records

January 24, 2022

Ahead of the release of their new album A Gut Feeling on 4th February 2022, London duo Cassels have announced the release of new single ‘Beth’s Recurring Dream’.
Amidst a maelstrom of thrashing, off-kilter tracks, ‘Beth’s Recurring Dream’ is arguably the simplest on the record: “pretty much a straightforward, 4/4, garage rock banger”.
However, with its infectious guitar riffs, booming drums and cutting lyrics delivered with a cathartic intensity, the track is very much a Cassels single.
Speaking on the single, the duo say: “Hope can be both a tonic and an affliction. It can help make a bad situation bearable, but at the same time can also keep you trapped in that same bad situation. That’s what this song is about, amongst other things.”
Beth’s Recurring Dream’ follows critically acclaimed singles ‘Mr Henderson Coughs’ and ‘Charlie Goes Skiing’, which epitomise what to expect on the new album – a collection of songs with instrumentation that is at turns razor-sharp and bludgeon-blunt, providing the backing track to a savage, hilarious, and tender collection of short stories.

Raw, angular, and stirring this infectious emotional buoyancy, Cassels showcase yet another flawless composition from their upcoming highly anticipated album. Another composition that allows this duo to express this outfit’s maturity and progression. Cassels brings this early 00’s DIY indie/alt punk effort into this immersive ensemble. Melody and high-octane passages, raw riffs conquer the soundscape whilst the direct lyrics ooze such charisma, appeal, and a range of emotions emitting from the broad vocal range fluctuating throughout, alternating between soft and sincere to fast and vicious. As the arrangement continues on it’s hard-hitting course, the instrumentation continues to add to it’s immersive structure. The small break-downs that introduce these electric, elevated noodles and taps give a nod to the math influence.

Beth’s Recurring Dream conveys such enthralling energy, bringing this touch of nostalgia through the chaos, a soundscape that hooks the audience and provides a journey that becomes necessary.

As we’ve stated before, 2022 is the year for Cassels, already we anticipate their forthcoming album will be one of the most influential records of the year. This pair obliterate their expectations, they’ve progressed with maturity and expressive might and have identified themselves as one of the most promising and bold artists of our time, Cassels have fully embraced who they are and the outcome is enthralling.
