We are delighted to share news of the return from Cardiff-based quartet Esuna. Following a few years since their last official release, Esuna has today, 17th December, dropped the release of their new single “Don’t Open That Envelope” which is out now. The new single showcases a welcome return and see’s the four musicians mark the end of 2021 with a powerful ensemble.
As we’ve stated before, Esuna are certainly no strangers to the site, we’ve witnessed the band from their first festival live debut and watched the outfit expand and evolve throughout the years. Josh, Kieran, Alex, and Joseff have united to deliver a release that showcases their progression once more. A heavier, more hard-hitting track that captures their renowned unpredictable structures and a fercious attitude.
“Don’t Open That Envelope” commences with this shimmering riff and a complex rhythmic hit of the drum sticks to the rim, counting in the prominent beat which leads to the intensity of all musicians coming together and a surge of energy directing the journey. The dynamic turn of the track brings this wealth of chugging riffs weaving throughout a soundscape filled with a distinct vast depth of low-end resonating from the thick bass, harmonic guitar passages, and this thriving array of aggression stemming from the drum kit.
Esuna embraces their known angular traits, still providing the unpredictable course they craft within their arrangements. With the new release, Esuna plays to their strength with this almighty power, united and ready to hook the audience within the expressive landscape they’ve developed and maintained. The new single allows the mammoth tonality throughout to gain traction within their world, the vast structure down to the production qualities, all of this effortlessly captures this promising growth for the band and this daring attention to their abrasive instrumentation. Still touching on their math-rock influence but progressing their exploration with this fearless influence and captivating confidence.
A vital return!
