Springfield Elementary holds no prisoners when it comes to their latest chaotic creations, the power that the four-piece convey is something else, intoxicating and utterly mighty. The power they contribute within the EP will blow you away, this is one of the most addictive records of our time, you’ll understand the obsessive qualities of this outfit from the first impression of “Ne+ Ultra”. Springfield Elementary manipulates this mash-up of inspirations from psychedelic genres, rock genres, and that almighty punk spirit and dynamically create this immersive landscape emitting this unique angst and wealth of hypnotic passages.
“On A Cloud” commences with this swirling, abrasive feedback which provides this immediate crushing momentum. The percussion starts to build, adding various elements into the atmospherical ensemble. Fuzzy notes bring this depth to the colossal composition before cymbal crashes, melodic rhythms, and charismatic vocal harmonies all of which unite to provide this immersive and fierce release. This unpredictable flow engulfs the audience where they bask in this dense world that continues to grow as the band adds layer upon layer of angular break-downs, the scratchy cadence of notes, and thunderous drum shuffles. The dual vocal notes emphasizing the lyrics bring this immediate punch to the delivery and contribute to the aggressive nature of Spring Elementary. Starting their EP with this ferocious arrangement, the audience can prepare for the essential voyage to continue.
“Barracuda King” focuses on the brutal tonality of the instruments. Brooding, intense, and delectable. The tones devour the audience and nod to the sublime production quality of this release. Springfield Elementary showcases their psychedelic flourishes whilst still striving for this ardent and raucous release. “Fish Song” follows and at only 1 minute 43, the four-piece ensures to take you on this quick-paced yet critical exploration. The cowbell places itself at the key point of the structure, pummeling riffs, and this melodic movement power through the landscape of this consuming piece, you’ll find yourself fixated on those raw lyrics.
“Keep On Moving” slows down the rapid journey that has gone before, this track is Springfield Elementary’s anthemic ensemble. Mammoth tones and pummeling riffs, the energy oozes this infatuation to the track. This plethora of addictive hooks and that anthemic chorus, we will be chanting back in no time at all. Finally, the EP fittingly finishes on “Just Say No”. The complex bass notes become the driving force for this boisterous creation. Abrupt, raw lyrics. Ending this formidable record on the words “ Just Say No”... let’s take a page from this obnoxious creation and the possessive power of this outfit and let the music pump us up for a much-needed revolt. Springfield Elementary’s audacious energy really dazzles throughout the record.
“Ne+ Ultra” deserves to become your most played EP, the record is destined to move you, the energy sweeps you up and provokes action. Springfield Elementary have released 5 tracks that will solidify this outfit with widespread critical acclaim, this record is nothing short of a masterpiece.
