The War On Drugs Share New Single “Change”
Ahead Of The Release of New Album, I Don’t Live Here Anymore,
Out This Friday on Atlantic Records
The War On Drugs have released “Change,” a new song from their forthcoming album, I Don’t Live Here Anymore, out this Friday on Atlantic Records. I Don’t Live Here Anymore is an uncommon rock album about one of our most common but daunting processes—resilience in the face of despair.
“Change” sees bandleader Adam Granduciel working through the frustration and hesitations of trying to move forward, documenting just how hard it can be to navigate.
With a serious lyrical reach yet a more vibrant upbeat instrumentation, the track is conflicting such as the body of the work. Engrossing and ambitious, The War On Drugs do it again, this album will be one of the most moving pieces of work yet. Immediately when the textures and sublime ambiance from this song instantly pull the listener into the center of the creation, we know this is The War On Drugs. That emotional attachment of this outfit is present with this burning intensity throughout.
I Don’t Live Here Anymore is The War On Drugs’ first studio album in over four years and first since winning the Grammy for Best Rock Album for 2017’s A Deeper Understanding. The band’s particular combination of intricacy and imagination animates the album’s 10 songs, buttressing the feelings of Granduciel’s personal odyssey. It’s an expression of rock ’n’ roll’s power to translate our own experience into songs we can share and words that direct our gaze toward the possibility of what is to come.
The War On Drugs upcoming tour kicks off 19th January in Austin, Texas and will take them to many of the largest venues they’ve ever played, including their first headlining show at Madison Square Garden and a run of dates through the UK including London’s O2 Arena.
