Chicago-based singer-songwriter-pianist Neal Francis has unveiled “Prometheus”, the latest single from his eagerly anticipated new album; a music video is streaming now.
“Prometheus” heralds Francis’s upcoming second LP, In Plain Sight, mixed by GRAMMY® Award winner Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, Tame Impala, MGMT) and due via ATO Records on vinyl, CD, and digital formats on Friday, November 5. Pre-orders are available now.
This electrifying ensemble focuses on the harmonic touch whilst the dazzling guitar serenades the immersive landscape. As with previous tracks that Francis has teased from the forthcoming album, Neal Francis captures this theatrical movement within their grand vision, latest single continues with that theme which encapsulates the new ensemble. Neal brings such a commanding presence to their work and is reflective within their bright vocal harmonies, effortlessly capturing the spirit of late-1960s/ early 70’s icon. The new single adds this sweeter influence with the ethereal vocal tones and clever use of delay. Whilst each instrument weaves together symbiotically emphasizing the shining sounds. Focusing on that vibrant vintage feel whilst enhancing these experimental, futuristic elements.
In Plain Sight also includes the recently released singles, “Alameda Apartments” and “Can’t Stop The Rain,” both available now at all DSPs and streaming services. “Alameda Apartments” arrived last month alongside an official companion video – filmed on VHS in the church where Francis lived, wrote, and recorded his eagerly anticipated new album – streaming now via YouTube; a stirring live performance of the track – filmed at SHIRK Studios in Chicago, IL with backing from Francis’s crack touring band – is also streaming now via YouTube.
n Plain Sight was first heralded this summer with the lead single, “Can’t Stop The Rain,” featuring GRAMMY® Award-winning guitarist Derek Trucks and hailed in its world premiere on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic as “an invigorating heat wave banger… hits with an unapologetically joyful, electric feel that makes for just the jolt to the system we needed.” The track – which quickly ascended to #1 Most Added at Triple A and Non-Commercial Radio outlets nationwide – is joined by an official music video, streaming now at YouTube; an electrifying live version, filmed at Chicago’s SHIRK Studios and showcasing Francis and his band’s infectious on-stage energy, can be viewed now as well.
Neal Francis is currently on a massive U.S. tour that includes dates opening for Black Pumas, a sold-out headlining show at New York’s Mercury Lounge, and festival appearances at Bonnaroo, Americana Fest, Shaky Knees, and Outside Lands, among others. Francis just received rave reviews for his hometown performance at Lollapalooza – “There are hints of ’70s Brit Rock (including a very visceral touch of Elton John) as well as New Orleans jazz-funk, gospel soul, and some lighthearted Randy Newman — and the amalgamation felt like a time-stamped treasure,” wrote the Chicago Sun-Times.
