WEIRD MILK share punchy EP lead single ‘Vienna’

Weird Milk make their welcome return with their EP lead single ‘Vienna’, set for release August 4th via Republic for Music.

The first track taken from the group’s ‘We Were Strangers’ EP slated to arrive this autumn, ‘Vienna’ displays their trademark anthemic tendencies and pristine songwriting in full force once more, and coincides with the announcement of a debut UK headline tour this autumn, including a show at London’s prestigious Omeara venue.

“Vienna” opens with this bold display of bright punchy attributes, surrounding the immersive vocal notes and the buoyant beat. This display of upbeat and elevated rhythms cascade across the atmosphere that the audience simply embraces and devours. Uniting this quirky vision of vibrance and a joyful exploration, this release captures this truly addictive essence.

Having already ticked off a slew of high-profile support slots alongside the likes of APRE, Alfie Templeman, Frank Cartner and Pip Blom, the band and their much-lauded live set have packed tents at Latitude and Standon Calling in recent weeks, with several other festival dates (Wilderness, Dot to Dot + more) to come, further reinforcing why they’ve received so much press (NME, The Line Of Best Fit, Dork, Gigwise, Clash, DIY, Paste) and BBC Radio 1/6 Music (Annie Mac, Jack Saunders, Steve Lamacq) acclaim since first arriving on the indie scene.

Detailing their newest effort, vocalist/guitarist Alex Griffiths explained: “‘Vienna’ is a very personal release to me. It was written at a moment in my life where I reached a crossroads and was totally stuck. A few amazing individuals, whom I likened to ‘angels’, swooped into my life to guide me in my time of need. They left their impressions on me, I chose my path and then they each flew away. I’m grateful to this day and though I am not spiritual or religious, it reshaped my perception of fate. I worked on it with Charlie over lockdown and we finished the arrangement and music together, drawing inspiration from Wings, The Band and Phoebe Bridgers.”

Weird Milk’s ‘Vienna’ was released August 4th and is out now on all digital platforms.

Weird Milk is Alex Griffiths (guitar, vocals), Charlie Glover Wright (drums, vocals), Joe ‘Blue’ Moyle (keys), Alex Guess (bass)
