End Of The Road Festival Announces Special Guest DAMON ALBARN + CRACK CLOUD, SIPHO, BALIMAYA PROJECT, LORAINE JAMES, ANNA B SAVAGE & More
With less than a month to go before the 15th edition of End Of The Road, described as “inarguably, the best-curated festival of the summer” (★★★★★ NME in 2019) there have been some late additions to the lineup to ensure that this year will be one of the best ever.
Leading this news announcement as Special Guest is Damon Albarn, with a new solo album on the horizon, will be accompanied by his band with a string quartet and you can expect a mix of new material and songs from across his songbook.
Joining Damon Albarn with the new announcements are Canadian post-punk provocateurs Crack Cloud, Birmingham based R&B star Sipho, sixteen-piece West-African outfit Balimaya Project, boundary pushing electronic musician Loraine James, and confessional singer songwriter Anna B Savage.
Also added to the bill are Kiran Leonard, Wesley Gonzalez, BABii, Gwenifer Raymond, Broadside Hacks, Sam Akpro, TheUmlauts, Tiberius b, John Francis Flynn, Michael Clark and Joe Goddard (DJ).
The following artists will no longer be performing: Whitney, Tune-Yards, Tinariwen, Songhoy Blues, Les Amazones d’Afrique, Blanck Mass, Les Filles de Illighadad, Current Joys, Marie Davidson &L’œil Nu, Shygirl, The Anchoress, Mike Polizze, Margaret Glaspy, Itasca, Skullcrusher, Jeffrey Martin, Jake Xerxes Fussell, Disq, Sofia Wolfson, David Thomas Broughton and Marlaena Moore.
Recently, musical polymath King Krule was joined by fellow headliners by electro-pop heavyweights Hot Chip, anarchic punks Sleaford Mods and sonic explorers Stereolab. Radiohead guitarist and Oscar-nominated film composer Jonny Greenwood and confessional synth-pop star John Grant joined the previously announced UK rap pioneer Little Simz, and the band at the forefront of the UK Jazz explosion, The Comet Is Coming.
Beyond the headliners, there’s an incredible array of artists to enjoy, such as Scottish indie kings Arab Strap, legendary folk singer Shirley Collins & The Lodestar Band, synth-pop siren Jane Weaver, psychedelic rock group Kikagaku Moyo and thrilling techno-punks Scalping among the final additions to the bill.
You can also expect South Londoner and Brit award-winning Arlo Parks to soothe revellers whilst continuing her meteoric rise, whilst previous festival favourites Black Country, New Road and first-timers Dry Cleaning have both released debut albums that have set a new benchmark for British guitar bands, as experimental multi-disciplined composer, producer and musician Anna Meredith also returns to End Of The Road with her breathtaking live show.
And finally, It wouldn’t be End Of The Road without Squid in attendance. They were the talk of the weekend in 2019, playing a whopping three sets, as well as the stars of In The Garden Of Streaming in September and their debut album was released recently to critical acclaim, coming in at #4 in the UK Charts.
They, and all of you, were missed terribly last year, but End Of The Road is coming back bigger and stronger in 2021 with more music, twists, turns and surprises than ever before. Full lineup:
