Zouj Announces New EP/Mixtape “Tagat” & Shares New Single + Video for “Fl00te”

After three singles and constant praise from everyone in the international Music blogosphere to support from TV Channel Adult Swim, who frequently play his videos. Producer ZOUJ returns with a new single and video and the announcement of his first Mixtape “Tagat” (Curse) to be released on June 29th – collecting all previous singles and several new tracks into a up to date exhibition of his fascinating output.

Alongside news of the forthcoming mixtape, ZOUJ has also shared new “Fl00te” which is described as an epic neo cloud R&B jam hidden in a modular synth maze. It comes accompanied with a comical and impassioned animated video courtesy of directors / animators Aljoscha Burtchen and Alexander Turovsky (the latter already worked on the Anxious Sleep video).

There’s an energy Zouj conveys which is so unique and equally enthralling. That energy is captured within every attribute of Zouj- musically and visually.

Zouj is without a doubt unequivocally unique. With the latest single, the artist crafts this expressive world filled with this plethora of tones, tangents, tweaks, and immersive electronic elements. Uniting this colossal set of impressive percussive notes and a brooding harmony ready to erupt at any moment. Zouj weaves this industrial and dextrous attribute within the melodic structure and then delicately places the vocal notes to calm the chaos and consume the audience’s attention. Similar to the previous creations that have been released, Zouj brings this addictive hook to their vision found in the off-kilter motions and tantalizing textures. An abrupt adventure with an uneasy influence. The atmosphere suddenly showcases this mighty volume. The intensity erupts and suddenly follows with a break of silence and a whistle tone. Hit repeat and prepare to be immersed in this mad world once more there’s no better place to be.

The new track showcases the ambition that Zouj carries with them, crafting instrumentations that detail such perplexity. Layers and layers of complex electronics, imaginative lyrics and at its core, soul. Zouj has developed this immersive atmosphere built on this synthetic structure which still emits a personal touch.

ZOUJ aka Adam Abdelkader Lenox, the son of a Morrocan Mother and an American father, grew up in the suburbs of Paris and ended up in Leipzig where his mother moved to when he was 14. He’s made music ever since and eventually rose to fame in the European noise DIY scene with his band Lingua Nada. Far too playful, weird and ambitious for the mainstream and without press or radio exposure, the band toured Europe non-stop for 5 years and gained a dedicated fan base. However, the limitations of the scene he found himself in where too narrow for Lenox, who restless soul yearned for something more both personally and musically. And so, he started his own scene.

ZOUJ is all about finding the soul in synthetic sounds: “I’m trying to make my machines sound human by emulating errors, randomness and tempo ups-and-downs while i’m trying my best as a human to sound like a machine.” But ZOUJ is a lot more than a music project. Lenox works with an ever-growing network of musicians, photographers, directors, animators, toy makers and graphic artists to create a synthesis of sound, visuals, symbols, dress and movement. The magic ingredient is in the heart of these collaborations. In the three months since the release of the first ZOUJ single, “Anxious Sleep,” he landed synch deals with NIKE and GUCCI, along with fashion designer All Amin aka HARAM WITH SUGAR. US stoner entertainment kings ADULT SWIM have featured ZOUJ on OFF THE AIR along with his out-of-this-world videos.

There are countless motivational quotes about the “roads less travelled,” but ZOUJ has found the best part of paving your own way is the people you meet and connect with on the journey. That is all part of the DIY culture. A future marked with solidarity is exciting and disruptive of the status quo. Not marching to a mundane beat creates something jazzy and chaotic. And in that jazzy chaos is where you will find ZOUJ.
