Share New Single “XOUT”

New Album Present Tense out 21st May on Trouble in Mind- Available Now

Chicago trio FACS never stop pushing forward; they’ve honed and refined their stark, minimal scrape and clatter for four years and counting, having risen out of the ashes of Disappears in 2018 with the bone-rattling intensity of Negative Houses. The trio return in 2021 with Present Tense, their fourth album and perhaps their sharpest statement as a band.

Following previous cuts “Strawberry Cough” and “General Public“, they’ve unveiled third single, “XOUT“.

The accompanying video was directed by the band’s collaborator Joshua Ford who says of it: “I put FACS behind glass for this video, maybe subconsciously marking this time and place to some degree. The XOUT video comes out right one year into the pandemic, most of us have lived with some fear/dread over the last year, all of us have felt a sense of separation. That simple idea grew into an organic stream-of-consciousness sequence of video and still images that I’ve captured over the years in the midwest and southwest. It’s purely mood driven.”

FACS have this fearless influence within all they craft and create. XOUT starts with this angular bass tone, clashing cymbals, dark vocal notes, and this ominous atmosphere. FACS creates this brooding ambiance that affects the mood of their audience. Guitar chimes into the complex structure as the drum kit cover this impressive ground with their fierce, resilient beats. The lyrics may be minimal but the powerful nature of the words resonates longer. The chaos heightens as lashes of aggression cascade over the creation from the intensive playing of all members, the energy equally as consuming as the composition, to be able to capture that dominating and impressive scope of relentless vitality within their work adds to the magnitude of their mighty landscapes.

FACS proudly captures this dangerous essence within their composition. They lead with another flawless and hypnotizing rhythm, once again the outfit builds this expansive atmosphere that emits this ominous texture.

FACS have developed this impressive atmosphere that obliterates, the power they’ve created is something else. They pull the audience into their vision and thats exactly where we all want to be. This trio create such a dynamic and momentous sound you’d expect this outfit to be double it’s size. Their energy is so contagious.

Their new album is a must hear and is available to stream and purchase now.

Present Tense is released on CD, black vinyl (a limited “Cheeto Mist” vinyl version is available while supplies last) and will be available via most digital retailers and streaming services.
