So much has changed since End Of The Road was named “inarguably, the best curated festival of the summer” (★★★★★ NME) in 2019, but one thing hasn’t: End Of The Road’s determination to throw the party of the year. Despite initially keeping the lineup as close to the 2020 edition as possible, End Of The Road has – like us all – had to adapt to the changing situation. Due to international travel restrictions, they will be without the majority of their international friends but have worked really hard to curate one of the most interesting and defiant lineups of the summer.
Joining musical polymath King Krule as headliners are electro-pop heavyweights Hot Chip, anarchic punks Sleaford Mods and sonic explorers Stereolab. Radiohead guitarist and Oscar nominated film composer Jonny Greenwood and confessional synth-pop star John Grant join the previously announced UK rap pioneer Little Simz, folk-Americana sensation Whitney, endlessly inventive Tune-Yards and the band at the forefront of the UK Jazz explosion, The Comet Is Coming.
Beyond the headliners, there’s an incredible array of newly announced artists to enjoy, such as Malian musical nomads Tinariwen, Scottish indie kings Arab Strap, legendary folk singer Shirley Collins & The Lodestar Band, synth-pop siren Jane Weaver, psychedelic rock group Kikagaku Moyo, thrilling techno-punks Scalping are among the final additions to the bill. Full lineup below.
For those of you who were caught unaware by the early March sell out, some more exciting news comes in the form of a Limited Late Release of Tickets. You will have your chance to grab a ticket for this year’s End Of The Road on May 20th, but there’s already a healthy waiting list, so set aside whatever else you were planning to do that day and head over to [endoftheroadfestival.com/tickets] to make sure you’re one of the lucky few.
Alongside these new announcements, you can expect Shygirl to mesmerise with her tongue-twistingly fast vocals, as fellow South Londoner and Brit nominee Arlo Parks promises to soothe revellers whilst continuing her meteoric rise. Previous festival favourites Black Country, New Road and first-timers Dry Cleaning have both released albums that have set a new benchmark for British guitar bands, whilst experimental multi-disciplined composer, producer and musician Anna Meredith returns to End Of The Road with her breathtaking live show. Malian desert blues group Songhoy Blues will get the party started, as the creative force that is the supergroup Les Amazones d’Afrique are sure to thrill.
And finally, It wouldn’t be End Of The Road without Squid in attendance. They were the talk of the weekend in 2019, playing a whopping three sets, as well as the stars of In The Garden Of Streaming in September.
