Samuel Organ Releases New Single “Kindness” Feat. BABii
After joining the DMY Artists roster, announcing a new album ‘A Safe Place In Cyberspace’ and releasing the first single ‘Default feat. Dazey‘, Samuel Organ follows up with the second single ‘Kindness’ featuring acclaimed sound and visual artist BABii, whose latest music has been picking up incredible support across BBC Radio, NPR, The Needle Drop, RA + more.
Samuel’s new album follows up 2020’s ‘Complex Habitat Systems’, which received a range of underground and major support from the likes of the PC Music label, How To Dress Well,Dummy Magazine, Mike Posner and artist Caroline Polachek (who included a track in her BBC 6Music Guest Mix).
‘Kindness‘ sees Samuel exploring new sonic territory with the addition of BABii’s ghostly vocals, but staying true to his signature style of soft piano-lead deep listening mixed with club focused bass music. BABii’s ethereal voice and lyrics question what it feels like to be fooled by kindness over delicate layers of synthesisers and chopped up vocals that build throughout the song until exploding into an energetic beat lead by BABii’s warped vocals.
Samuel Organ captures this exploratory nature within the new ensemble, utilizing these intricate yet adventurous electronic elements alongside the gentle yet powerful keys. The atmosphere instantly feeds this compelling characteristic, as Samuel builds this delectable web of textures, BABii’s fragile vocal notes glide through the soundscape providing this addictive essence. The layered vocal notes deliver this comforting appeal, lyrics weaving through those tender textures that Organ has developed.
“Kindness” delivers what the title declares, the environment crafts this warming and utterly engaging world. The organic structure and the soft tones emit this more-ish destination. Experimentation plays such a vital role in this ensemble and yet the electronic waves fulfill this intimate embrace. The complex composition welcomes the audience into the dreamy aura it conveys. This is such a flawless yet absolutely essential collaboration, easily one of the most promising releases of this year.
Discussing the new album, Samuel explains: “A Safe Place in Cyberspace is the solo record I’ve dreamt of making for years now. A polarising trip that wanders between the ethereal and the turbulent. An experience that lulls the listener into a stasis, before reminding them that everything is probably not as it once seemed in the safe place. The boundaries of the diverse sonic landscape are pushed further by collaborations with people that truly inspire me creatively.”
Samuel is a founding member of the experimental jazz group, The Physics House Band – who’s work has included collaborations with Stewart Lee and Kai Whiston, as well as many tours and notable performances alongside artists like Alt-J, Django Django, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Jaga Jazzist. The group have received high praise and support from The Guardian, The Independent, The Sunday Time, NPR, BBC Radio and Antony Fantano.
