Nuuxs Releases New Single “Starship”

London singer-songwriter NUUXS unveils her new single ‘Starship’, via Goldun Egg / Absolute. The environmentally charged track is the latest offering from her forthcoming debut album Heirloom, due later this year.

Built on stripped-back alt-pop grooves, ‘Starship’ sees NUUXS discuss art’s ability to distract from hardship, as well as inspire meaningful change in the world. “For me, one of the biggest enticements of music was the escapism of it. ‘Starship’ is really an homage to Star Trek; I loved the concept of how they fight evil forces on their adventures and I feel we’re in the same place with pollution, human and equal rights. It’s about the love we have for the space we live in, yet we still manage as humans to treat it badly,” she explains.

This striking and devious tone initiates the proceedings and this comforting blanket of intricate notes pushes the exploration into the triumphant journey. As the first few notes bring this dramatic wave to the atmosphere, that intensity clears and leads space for the sudden sweeping intricate notes to continue repeating their critical loops against the delicate electronic layers. This infusion of delicate attributes alongside a soaring melody becomes a hypnotizing notion for this release, that is before the audience is introduced to the demanding vocal notes of Nuuxs. When we understand the power of this artist, the audience is left in awe.

Nuuxs is easily one of the most vital artists right now, the compelling vocal harmonies cascade through the fragile exploration. As the single captures this nostalgic essence that emits from the addictive beat and the consuming textures, the vocals dominate the ambiance. Nuuxs is a big deal, destined for greatness. An artist with the ability to capture such emotion within their vocal range, to harness such delicate tones against intense sustained notes. This is a pop icon, embrace the powerful creations….

The news of her first album follows a stream of acclaimed EPs from the French-born, London-based singer, culminating in 2019’s Red Tape Mixtape, which garnered widespread tastemaker support from the likes of Annie Mac, CLASH, tmrw, The Line of Best Fit, BBC Introducing and Mahogany

A deeply personal writer and performer, NUUXS’ music is closely intertwined with her experiences. Raised in a cult, where she was cut off from wider culture, her musical awakening began at school, forming an indie band and writing hooks for local grime artists – a snapshot of some of the wide-ranging sounds that inform her unique brand of alt-pop. A beguiling, yet liberating set of alternative pop, cut with darkness and introspection, Heirloom sees NUUXS primed to establish herself as one of the UK’s most intriguing and vital breakthrough artists.
