Milly Release New Single “Birds Fly Free”
Out Now via Dangerbird Records
Los Angeles outfit Milly share fuzzy, shoegaze offering ‘Birds Fly Free’, out now via Dangerbird Records (Grandaddy, Swervedriver).
The second track taken from the band’s ‘Wish Goes On’ EP out April 9th, ‘Birds Fly Free’ exemplifies the undeniable potential of the group, with its ethereal style drenched in spellbinding guitars and brooding vocals, heavily reminiscent of their grunge-infused, 90s-influences.
The new single captures this real 90s theme, deep melancholic lyrics portrayed with such sincerity over the chugging chords and the powerful momentum of this creation. The bold bass notes entwine with the intense surge of the developing ensemble. The big drum beats and precise cymbal crashes emerge from the far-reaching landscape that Milly have produced but the hypnotic guitar riffs help with the hook of this dynamic exploration. The vocal notes resonate within the fuzz of this compelling and honest release. The heavy layers that form this striking track will mesmerize the audience.
Having already graced stages alongside contemporaries DIIV and Swervedriver during their short time together, Milly have earned early plaudits from key tastemakers such as NPR, Paste and Beats Per Minute, and with April’s EP release edging closer, the quartet are certainly primed to build on their early momentum.
Detailing their newest effort, frontman Brendan Dyer revealed: “‘Birds Fly Free’ is a full send off on those that I’ve wronged and those that’ve wronged me. Writing this song served as an act of forgiveness in a time where I was really unhappy with the people I considered closest to me in my life. It feels like saying goodbye with an overarching sense of finding freedom”.
Milly’s ‘Birds Fly Free’ is out now via Dangerbird Records and will be available on all digital platforms.
Milly is Brendan Dyer (lead vocals, guitar), Spencer Light (guitar), Yarden Erez (bass), Zach Capitti Fenton (drums)
