HANYA share mesmerising track ‘Lydia’

Rapidly establishing their place within the indie hierarchy, Brighton shoegazers HANYA showcase mesmerising new effort ‘Lydia’, which is out now having been unveiled March 24th.

Hanya have perfected their ability to create these deep textures within their consuming atmosphere that they craft and maintain with each release. This compelling attitude can be found from the moment “Lydia” commences, this far-reaching dreamy environment pulls you in yet this more serious appeal washes over the composition. The audience soon becomes fixated on the harrowing harmony which sweeps throughout the exploration, the vocal delivery soars across the textures and the delicate lyrics grab your full attention.
Following anthemic offering ‘Monochrome’, the quartet continue to harness delicate guitars and ethereal harmonies reminiscent of US dream-pop heavyweights Alvvays and Beach House in ‘Lydia’, masterminded by the soaring, effervescent vocals of frontwoman Heather Sheret.
Further justifying their growing reputation amongst the tastemaker community (The Line Of Best Fit, Clash, Dork, Gigwise and The Quietus) over the last twelve months, the band’s potential has also been recognised by BBC Radio 1 (Jack Saunders, Huw Stephens) and BBC 6 Music’s (Lauren Laverne, Steve Lamacq, Tom Robinson) key indie championsand with live shows lined up this summer, previous experience supporting the likes of Honeyblood, Lazy Day and Tess Parks is certain to stand them in good stead.
Detailing their latest release, Sheret explained: “Lydia’ started as a sweet acoustic number but kept getting bigger the more we played it. I think that’s the nature of things right now: big gestures only. This past year has involved a lot of contemplation, and so ‘Lydia’ was written about a chance to dwell on our memories and see people, situations and relationships in new light as time progresses. The reminder that rights and wrongs are ever-evolving, perspectives shift and over time you shape your own memories”.
HANYA’s ‘Lydia’ is out March 24th and available via all digital platforms.

HANYA is Heather Sheret (guitar, vocal), Benjamin Varnes (guitar), Jorge Bela (bass), Jack Watkins (drums)
