I’ve Seen All I Need To See
The Body are one of the busiest and most prolific bands making extreme music on the planet with their recorded output seeing them releasing brilliant albums like Christs, Redeemers, No One Deserves Happiness and I Have Fought Against It, But I Cant Any Longer as well as collaborating on music with the likes of Uniform, Full Of Hell and Thou, so any new release from the band is to be embraced, and their latest album I’ve Seen All I Need To See is definitely a record that will capture your head, your heart and your soul.
A spoken word intro over a continuous harsh burst of noise starts the album off on opening track A Lament the way in a fashion that lets you know what I’ve Seen All I Need To See is all about and from then on in, the harshness is unrelenting but in an utterly captivating way. Waves of distortion add to that harshness on A Lament and the track is definitely and defiantly bleak but there is a rising uplifting nature despite the aural darkness.
Tied Up And Locked In revels in that darkness and is a nonstop whirl of brutal noise while the pounding industrial electronic beats on Eschatological Imperative collide with some squealing feedback to maximum effect and shows the varied nature of the heaviness on this album.
The heaviness continues with the harrowing A Pain Of Knowing, the perfectly titled, hypnotic sounding and possibly the heaviest track on the album is The City Is Shelled and the mesmerising distorted drone of They Are Coming, all of which are perfect examples of what The Body are doing with their sound on this album.
The album ends with pounding The Handle/The Blade and the stark and desolate electronics of Path Of Failure which ends things perfectly on such a downbeat vibe with its crushingly bleak distortion, a culmination of all that has come before it.
I’ve Seen All I Need To See is an album that revels in its bleakness and distorted nature and the band have certainly achieved what they set out to do when they were making this album in sonic terms. The heaviness therein takes your breath away constantly but there is a definite triumphant feel to the songs on this record among the dark and bleak soundscapes and The Body capture those extremes perfectly on another brilliant album that is not for the faint of heart, just the way The Body do it.
