Share new track ‘Everything I Had’

Somewhere out February 5th, 2021 via Run for Cover & Keeled Scales

Sun June today share ‘Everything I Had‘, the last single from upcoming album Somewhere, out 5th February 2021 via Run for Cover and Keeled Scales.

Muted, sparse guitars play around the vocals of Laura Cowell on ‘Everything I Had‘, as she pines “Everything I had, I want it back“. Beautifully meditative, it is one of the most direct songs on ‘Somewhere’, the sharp writing showcasing how the band’s songwriting continues to flourish.

“‘Everything I Had’ is about feeling stuck and wishing you could go back in time. It misses when things were new and easy and full of promise,” said Sun June’s Laura Colwell. “It feels very ‘Austin’ to us, because things change here so quickly and it’s easy to fall into a rut and feel like the city is moving on without you. Friends are always leaving town too, so sometimes it’s fun to think moving to LA or New York would solve all our problems. It’s also fair to say that the song has taken on some new meaning during the pandemic. We’re all missing someone or something right now.

Sun June deliver sublime orchestrations, “Everything I Had” captures the beauty of this outfit, and the fragility of the songwriting echoed in the vocal harmonies. Each track the band has unveiled taken off their forthcoming release emits this pure energy and human touch. Sun June power their outlook with soft rhythms and a broad soundscape. “Everything I Had” strives towards perfection, the nature of this arrangement allures the audience into the volatile world of this exploration. You want to grasp at each word and each longing key, Sun June transport you into the etheral composition alongside them and you hold on for as long as you can. As we’ve said before, Sun June are special, let their vision consume you.

Sun June’s Somewhere is available for pre-order now and out February 5th, 2021 via Run For Cover and Keeled Scales.
