Efterklang frontman shares new single & video “Ocean Wave”
A laidback homage to Lisbon, where the album was made
-Debut solo record ‘Better Way’ out Jan 9th on City Slang
Casper Clausen, frontman of Efterklang and adjacent project Liima, has shared a second single from his forthcoming debut solo album, ‘Better Way,’ which will be released on his birthday, Saturday January 9th via City Slang.
Commenting on the video, he says: “The video for Ocean Wave is by my friend and film director Sebastião Braga. Sebastião followed me and filmed loads of stuff from and around my studio in Lisbon over the past 3 years. I asked him to boil it down to an 8min homage to the place where I wrote all the music for my album Better Way – to the flowing water just outside my window, and to the dying sun that sets across the river, over the Sintra mountains every evening. To let you see a bit of what I’ve been looking at while making the music.”
“Ocean Wave” still focuses on Casper Clausen’s creative tendencies yet this arrangement provides its own calming intensity. The track has this soft and gentle vibe that forces the audience to slow down and appreciate each element carefully crafted to create this composition. The brooding vocals fluctuate between the consuming electronic waves that cascade throughout this exploration. Casper Clausen has once again used their impulsive yet expansive soundscape to develop its own atmosphere through the use of playful textures, addictive waves, tweaks, and tones. A consuming composition taken from an album that will become a vital listen in 2021.
